Western Outdoors

What is happening to our Fishing License Fees?
For several years I have fished Lake Gregory in Crestline, CA because it is close to home, I can fish from the bank and it is free.
I keep a detailed fishing log and regularly check with the “Boat House” to determine what has been stocked.
By July 1st last year the State had stocked the lake 6 time for a total of 4,250#s. The County had stocked 3 times for a total of 3,000#s for a combined 7,250#s.
As of July 1st this year the state has stocked twice and will not tell the “Boat House” what they planted. The lake is only scheduled for 2 more State plants this year.
Needless to say the fishing has been poor.
My guess is that License Fees have been grabbed for the General Fund. Are License Fees not to be used to enhance the fishing experience?
Is there anything we can do?
Maybe we need to sue the State or pass an initiative (like we recently did with the gas tax money) to keep fishing money where it was intended to go.
I know that the lack of stocking is hurting the Crestline economy. I for one will be fishing Gregory less. Maybe try Diamond Valley.
